A lot of people wondering what it means to be Emirati being "Emirati" doesn't means having a passport to show your nationality. It is a name with a lot of different meanings that symbolize who we really are.
"I'm Emirati" means that I'm proud about myself because of our culture and having a father like sheikh Zayed who changed this desert into a green heaven and united as all together as one, I being Emirati means that I'm connected to the soil of this country so I need to defend it and protect it from any harm as protecting myself.
Our country became independent in 1971 and it is divided into seven emirates which been united by his highness Sheikh Zayed.
Our religion is Islam and we are raised by a kind culture that welcomes everyone warmly no matter of how different they are. We speak the language of the holy Quran which is Arabic. We have a lot of ceremonies, as Muslims we have Aid al fitr and Aid Al Adha and as citizen we have the national day ceremony. We have our own traditional dress, men wears Kandora which is a white cloak and qhutra a piece of clothes that we wear it on head whereas women wears Abaya, a black cloak which is worn on top of their clothes and Sheelah a piece of clothes that cover their head.
Lastly, I'm proud of being Emirati and I can't stop being proud of it because of the unlimited things that our country provides for us to make us comfortable.

Hi, I'm a student at Zayed University and I would like to use your point of view on "what makes you an Emirati" in my research paper. Is it O.K to use your name in my research? Please replay to me at 201002677@zu.ac.ae
